Hello! Thanks for visiting PhotoBySchu.com.

I’m Michael Schumacher, an award winning photojournalist with over 30 years of experience documenting the world around me. My friends all call me “Schu,” pronounced like the shoe on your foot. My career has afforded me the opportunity to photograph thousands of people and events over the years, but my true photographic love has been fine art photography. I love making beautiful pictures and capturing those memories of life. I’ve been experimenting with High Dynamic Range or HDR photography, creating several galleries of very dramatic images.

I'm available for freelance journalism work and commercial photography, including food, fashion, architecture, modeling portfolio and any location shooting in the Amarillo area. I also shoot documentary style wedding packages, portraits, family portraits and senior pictures. Check out the wedding and portrait galleries for examples of my work. High quality prints can be purchased in varying sizes and media by clicking the "BUY" button over each photograph. Digital file downloads are available also for personal or commercial licensing, under the "Buy" button. Weddings : At Michael Schumacher Photography we know every bride and wedding party is different. That's why we fine-tune our wedding day coverage to fit the personality of each couple. Some want extended portraiture sessions; others want minimal, quick, hassle-free formal coverage. The focus is to keep the photography relaxed and enjoyable, while capturing those key moments that tell your story. After all, this is your wedding day, not a day-long photo shoot and the more fun you have, the better the pictures will be. My goal is to tell the complete story of your wedding day--from the smallest details to the overall big picture; and all the smiles and tears in between. And I do it in an unobtrusive way, so the events of the day can unfold naturally and you'll get those images that will be treasure for a lifetime. Cadillac Ranch : This gallery is a collection of my Cadillac Ranch images. Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation and sculpture in Amarillo, Texas, U.S. It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant Farm, and it consists of what were (when originally installed during 1974) either older running used or junk Cadillac automobiles, representing a number of evolutions of the car line (most notably the birth and death of the defining feature of early Cadillacs; the tail fin) from 1949 to 1963, half-buried nose-first in the ground, at an angle corresponding to that of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
